Artist Spotlight - Ricky Tanner
Born November 15, 1987, Ricky spent his formative years grooming his love of fast cars, and guitars. Growing up, his grandfather would spend his nights picking and singing after a long day at the shop. In these moments, unknowingly, a love like no other was born.
At the age of 12, Ricky performed in front of an audience for the very first time. Little did he know, he would be greeted afterward with applause, congratulations and words of encouragement. Karaoke became a constant occurrence. Continuing to sing through high school, it became apparent that music was more than just a hobby. In fact, it was becoming a way of life.
In 2009, Ricky entered the “Cooter Festival” in his hometown of Inverness, Florida and made his way through all 3 preliminary rounds, earning the crown of “Cooter Idol”. This still brings a smile to his face even to this day. After that success, Ricky entered multiple karaoke, and talent competitions across the Southeastern U.S., which ultimately lead to forming the “Neon Truckers” band in early 2010. They had an amazing run. They opened for several national acts over their two-year span together. This time period helped mold Ricky into the entertainer he was soon to become. It allowed him to play in some iconic venues he was fortunate enough to have an opportunity to play in and in front of his ever-growing fan base which he considers to be the best in the world. This led to many incredible experiences, connections and ever-lasting friendships.
For purely personal reasons, in 2013, Ricky called it quits. However, the love for music never faded. He took some much-needed time off and just maintained a normal life working at the racetrack on his first love, fast cars.
Fast forward to today, several of his friends kept pushing Ricky to pick up his guitar again. After much convincing, he decided it was time for a comeback.
“So many people have pushed me along the way, even when I didn’t believe in myself. A lot of good friends helped me keep my faith and love of music.”
Ricky is currently back in the studio full steam ahead and playing shows throughout the eastern United States. Ricky is more determined than ever to bring an “edgy and nostalgic” sound to country music. This is a sound he feels has been lacking in country music for quite some time.
The time is now to go big or go home and make his mark. Be on the lookout for new music coming soon. Upcoming show announcements are coming in the near future. For the latest info-check out his landing page here:
